Darker Than BlackAU History: As a kid, Hei was abandoned by his family, leaving him only with his sister. He started life as a thief to get them more food, until he was scouted into the Syndicate Institution. And by scouted, I mean taken against his will, along with his sister. Initially, he was supposed to be disposed of as he did not possess any meta-human abilities. Instead, they were convinced to train Hei into something to give meta-humans something to fear, as his skills in staying the shadows was surprisingly good. From then on, as a kid, he was trained in the art of being an assassin. Lying, sneaking, and of course, killing. He faced off against numerous meta-humans and other assassins, and with his squad across many countries, such as Russia, China, Japan, and South America. He always came out on top, refining his skills in each fight and only earning two scars on his back. While he didn't like the idea of killing, to keep his sister safe, he'd destroy just about anyone who threatened her life. He even earned the reputation of being the Black Reaper, something for other organization members to fear. Because of his age, his face was always hidden with a mask, so no one knew who he was.At least until the accident.During an experiment to give him abilities like his sister, which was molecular manipulation (low-level though), it succeeded...though he blew up half the academy in the process. Even his old team went missing, leaving Hei more confused and angry. The Syndicate refused to tell him where his sister was, who was lost during the accident with an unknown fate. Without the only thing keeping him there, Hei quickly turned on the Academy, fleeing to find her on his own. Of course, he was hunted down due to the danger he posed.Hei slew several Syndicate members until he made it America, exhausted and out of weapons. Eventually, he was found by Nick Fury. Initially, Hei was distrustful of SHIELD, but with few options and knowing of Avengers Academy, Hei agreed to tell Fury everything he knew about the Syndicate. The deal was made, provided SHIELD find his sister too and save her. However, Hei was to remain on strict behavior, and not kill anyone, or harm his fellow heroes. After an agreement, Hei enrolls in Avengers Academy to start a new life while trying to find his sister. Surrounded by more positivity, if a bit weird, he adapts and smiles much more than his canon self. Though it's merely to adjust to this new life, and not let the past corrupt that.Personality: Despite being an assassin and trained mostly to only kill, he hates killing. The main reason he even kept trying to kill in the first place was for his sister, the one person he ever really cared for. His time with Amber also helped too, making sure he could keep some shred of his humanity. Without a chance to use it however, he never really got a chance to act like a normal person. Killing was the norm for him.
In the academy however, he does attempt to try to be more nice, though using his acting skills to get a better feel for the group. In canon, he referred to himself as Li and acted like a bungling goof. While not willing to do the same thing here completely, since he refers to himself as Hei, he only acts calm and cheery as a way to keep himself together. It all stems from his desire to do good in the world, and find his sister without being just another killer. He seeks happiness so much, he's willing to fake it just to adjust and not have people shower him in pity, as he feels he doesn't deserve that for all the lives he slaughtered.
Hei also has a bit of an anger problem when it comes to those he cared for. In his original canon, this was shown many times when he stopped being the neutral assassin just to try and find his sister. This led him to him torturing one person, a former comrade for the information. At the same time, he can be enraged too. During the same episode as he tried to help that same comrade, she was killed, and he sought out the blood of her killer. Given his current state, it's fairly easy to push his buttons.Powers:
Molecular Manipulation, however on a significantly lower scale when compared to beings like the Molecule Man, at least without enhancements. His base power allows him to conduct electricity via touch, with enough force to the heart of his victims; he is capable of non-lethal methods of taking down his foes, even eliminate short-term memory for a time. Hei's electric powers can also be used with things conductive with electricity, such as metal, his wires and knives, and more. In one instance, he was able to project electricity to launch electricity to a thug right near it. This doesn't mean he can blast electricity or use it like the Sith or Electro. Hei needs to touch. Electricity applied to this knives however are capable of resisting energy blades, as seen his fight with Hazuki in season 2. However, it can only be activated briefly and not constantly.
Another ability shown in the manga Shikokku No Hanna when Hei was fighting against a soldier with enhancements was Hei stopping his gun from firing by reducing the bullets in the chamber to their basic materials. Hei has very little experience in using this ability, and even admitted it during the fight, so it's not something he can rely on.
And this is where the enhancements come into play. The meteor shards that gave birth to Contractors can enhance their abilities. Even a single shard can boost one of their abilities to an insane level. In Hei's case, he is capable of removing certain molecules altogether, such as the end of the original series in how he managed to stop the bomb from wiping out all Contractors. He was also capable of reversing Contractor abilities, such as his final battle with Harvest in Shikokku No Hanna. Harvest was capable of decomposing things he touched, so Hei eventually reverse that, causing Harvest's body to be destroyed.
Hei is also equipped with a bulletproof jacket, along with two knives made to attach to building, but can also be used to break swords and other objects. He carries wires within his belt to launch his knives, swing from places, and choke people. This is all made deadlier as Hei has been trained since he was a little kid to take on and kill assassins with more experience than him, as well as meta-humans/Contractors. Even without his powers, he can be a nightmare to his foes given his fighting skill.RP Sample:
